Steve Atkinson

Steve is an experienced business leader, communications specialist and international banker with 35 years of diverse commercial experience across many geographies and disciplines. He leads Hawthorn's financial services practice.  
 
He specialises in advising clients on financial and corporate communications, reputation, deal flow, fund raisings, narrative building, stakeholder management and crisis management. He works with a broad range of clients including retail banks, fintech companies, private capital, asset management and corporate advisory companies across listed and unlisted businesses.  
 
Prior to joining Hawthorn, Steve worked at Standard Chartered Bank for three decades where he held a variety of leadership and communications roles, including Group Head, Investor Relations and Communications during the Global Financial Crisis and then served as the Group’s Corporate Affairs Director for five years with responsibilities for all communications activities of the Bank including media, investor relations, internal communications, public affairs, sustainability, reputational risk management and brand management (including the shirt sponsorship for Liverpool FC). Steve also spent many years as a banker in Asia, was Regional Head of Private Banking for the AMEA region and also served as the Group’s Chief of Staff.
