Role Overview

As a Digital Consultant at Hawthorn, you will work on delivering digital comms strategies for our diverse range of clients. Typically, this involves creating written social and website content, managing digital channels, running paid search and social campaigns, briefing and creating visual content and more, to help our clients achieve their wider comms objectives.

You will work closely with Senior Consultants and Associate Directors, as well as collaborate with more junior members of the team to deliver digital comms strategies. 

The digital team at Hawthorn does not work in a silo, but rather works in a truly integrated way alongside corporate comms, reputation management, political advisory, litigation, employee engagement and ESG teams.

As such, we’re looking for a comms professional who has technical digital expertise but is interested in
media and comms as a whole; and enjoys working across a range of different sectors. A successful candidate will be curious and forward-looking, staying up to date on the latest in digital marketing, social media, AI, marketing tech and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day delivery of digital comms work and campaigns across search and social; managing social media channels, websites, blogs, broadcast channels and more.
  • Writing digital content, both short form (social, search, ads) and long form (editorial, blogs).
  • Managing WIPs, agendas, content management dashboards or project management software.
  • Managing content mining, client signoffs, and project management.
  • Client management, and helping clients understand digital comms when required.
  • Briefing visual artists and graphic designers, as required to deliver comms campaigns.
  • Empowering Analysts to produce digital content, and upskilling members of the team.
  • Reporting on success of comms/campaigns to clients, to demonstrate value of digital work.
  • Spotting opportunities to cross-sell digital services to our clients.
  • Supporting on strategic-planning and writing short-term or long-term digital strategies for our clients.

Competencies

  • Proven experience in creating social content and managing social channels (LinkedIn, X, Meta, etc.)
  • Short-form and long-from writing experience – good writing is a must!
  • Experience running social ad campaigns, esp. on LinkedIn, X, YouTube.
  • Experience running Google ads (Search, Display), preferred but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
    • Ad manager/campaign manager on Meta, LinkedIn, X, Google
    • Search analytics tools such as SEMrush, Google Search Console
    • Social scheduling software such as Hootsuite, SproutSocial
    • Social listening/media listening tools such as TalkWalker, BrandWatch or Pulsar
    • Content Management Systems, such as WordPress, SquareSpace and similar.
  • Basic working knowledge of:
    • Canva, Photoshop and other image editing software
    • Project management tools such as Monday.com or Asana
    • Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Bing AI or Bard
